One example of this is a local bike dealer, whose IT should generally be made more flexible and customer-oriented.

The starting point for the consultation was the fact that only one stationary tower PC was available. This was the only place where customer data could be processed or software installed on the bicycles. The process from goods receipt to sales was therefore exclusively dependent on this PC and was very inconvenient due to the location of the PC, as you first had to cross the workshop and the warehouse - with every bike to be sold or repaired.

As part of an intensive consultation process, we ran through various solution scenarios together with the customer. In the end, we agreed on the following approach:

The first step was to switch from stationary PCs to portable laptops. As a consequence, it was necessary to extend the coverage of the WLAN network to the entire company premises so that every laptop could be connected to the Internet regardless of its current location. This made it possible to download the firmware required for the respective bikes at any time and from anywhere. By integrating a VPN, it was also possible to ensure secure access to the bicycle manufacturers and directly retrieve the necessary customer and product data.

All these actions have ensured more flexible and customer-oriented process handling within the company.
